Wheel Throwing for Beginners - Level 1

4-week class times (choose one): 

  • Mondays 1-3pm or 7-9pm - Ryanne
  • Tuesdays 1-3pm or 7-9pm - Jenn

For those with little to no experience or anyone looking to brush up on the basics, we offer a 4-week introductory course to throwing clay on the potter's wheel. We'll guide you through the wheel fundamentals of centering, opening, pulling, and shaping. You'll create several pieces from start to finish, learning the basics beyond the wheel including trimming and glazing. It is strongly suggested for newer students to take at least two 4-week sessions of Beginning wheel Level 1 to get a full grasp of the fundamentals before moving on to Level 2 classes.

This class is a Beginning level course and is suited for students with little to no wheel throwing experience.

Class price includes all supplies, firings (up to 20lbs of clay work through firings), and open studio time (All wet clay work must be completed during your 4 week session). Please be sure to read our refund policy before registering.

Wheel Throwing - Level 2

4-week class (choose one):

  • Thursdays 7-9pm - Ryanne
  • Saturday 2-4pm - Levi

For students with some experience looking to expand their practice. We’ll focus on scaling up to larger amounts of clay, throwing with intention, attaching to wheel-thrown forms, and more intricate glazing techniques, including use of the spray booth.

This class is a Beginning/Intermediate level course and is suited for students with some wheel throwing experience.

Class price includes all supplies, firings (up to 20lbs of clay work through firings), and open studio time (All wet clay work must be completed during your 4 week session). Please be sure to read our refund policy before registering.

Hand Building - LevelS 1 & 2

4-week class

Monday's 7-9pm - Levi

This 4-week class explores the many options of creating with clay off the wheel. All skill levels welcome - whether you're touching clay for the first time or looking to expand your work to include new techniques and shaping ideas, this is the class for you. Students will be introduced to both introductory and more advanced techniques.  

This class is an Introductory level course and is suited for students with some to no hand building experience.

Class price includes all supplies, firings (up to 20lbs of clay work through firing), and open studio time (all wet clay work must be completed during your 4 week session). Please be sure to read our refund policy before registering.

Wheel Throwing- Form Focus - Level 3

4-week class

Thursdays 1-3pm - Ryanne

This 4-week class is for students confident in wheel throwing fundamentals. Each session for this course will examine a specific form, exploring unique ways to refine the form to fit your own practice.

This class is an Intermediate level course and encouraged for students with some clay experience. 

Class price includes all supplies, firings (up to 20lbs of clay work through firing), and open studio time (All wet clay work must be completed during your 4 week session).Please be sure to read our refund policy before registering.

Wheel & Hand Building: Surface Design - Level 3

4-week class

Thursdays 7-9pm - Jenn

This 4-week class will cover wheel throwing techniques as well as incorporating hand building elements. Explore new ways to add to and alter your form. Create new and exciting works of both functional and non-functional art with a special emphasis to surface design, color, and texture. 

This class is an Intermediate level course and encouraged for students with some clay experience. 

Class price includes all supplies, firings (up to 20lbs of clay work through firing), and open studio time (All wet clay work must be completed during your 4 week session).Please be sure to read our refund policy before registering.

Wheel Throwing: Advanced - Level 4

4-week class

Wednesday 7-9pm - Chris

If you are already comfortable centering and pulling clay to create simple forms, this 6-week class is probably more your style. We will discuss throwing techniques such as multiples, handles, lids, combining forms and manipulating the form on and off the wheel. 

This class is an Advanced level course and encouraged for students with some clay experience.

Glaze Chemistry: Intro Class - Level 4

 

4-week class

Wednesday's 6:30-9pm - Jenn

This is a 4-week 'pre-glaze chemistry' class. Students will explore mixing and creating slips, Terra-sigillatas and engobes. During this exploration you will learn the fundamentals of measuring, testing and application of these materials. This is a foundation class for our 8 week Glaze Chemistry class. (Our 8-week Glaze Chemistry class will start during the February session. This 4-week course is a prerequisite to our 8-week course, you must fully complete the 4-week course to register for the 8-week course.)

Class price includes supplies, firings (up to 20lbs of clay work through firing) and open studio time (All wet clay work must be completed during your 4 week session). Materials not provided: A respirator and notebook are required. Some oxides and mason stains are not included in the price. Your instructor will cover this information during the first class.

Drop in hours - Level 1

Give yourself a taste of pottery without the class commitment! Come by during any of our drop-in times and pay by the project. Both wheel throwing and hand building projects are available. We also offer a list of ideas if you're feeling stumped. There will be an instructor on hand to show you how it all works and help you along.

Hand building: $22 per project

Wheel throwing: $25 per hour (keep up to 2 pieces)

Drop in hours are Mon: 3-6pm / Tues: 3:30-6pm / Thur: 1-6pm / Fri: 1-6pm / Sat: 11-1pm and 3-6pm (No drop in hours on Wednesdays) 

We do not take reservations for drop in hours. Drop-ins are on a first come, first serve basis.


Independent Study - Level 5

Practicing ceramicists looking for a studio to work in? Our monthly program may be what you need! Come in any time we're open to work. Price is per month (partial months or weekly programs are not permitted) and includes 25lbs of clay, class glazes, and firings through the duration of your membership month. Extra clay can be purchased at $2/lb. Outside clay is not permitted. 

The Independent Study program was setup to help artists find an affordable space to work. Artists in this program are expected to set an example for newer students by cleaning up properly, utilizing tools and machines appropriately, and being respectful of others in the studio.
