Tuesdays from 4-6pm with Elio

Pottery as Protest is a research based, conceptually driven course geared towards artistic exploration, rather than developing technical skill. Examining the history of ceramics in relationship to protest through the lenses of material, form and finish (surface and context), we will have weekly readings and discussions to hopefully inspire and inform our current making. This class is structured to be 12-weeks, as each month we will focus on one of these perspectives, though it can be taken in any order. This class is for nerds! While it is in the Burke handbuilding studio, this course is open to all kinds of makers with experience in ceramics.
